What it does
A signalling peptide that sits at the very top of the reproductive hormone chain. It tells the brain to release LH and FSH, which in turn tell the testes or ovaries to make testosterone or oestrogen. What people look into it for: • Supporting the body's own testosterone production rather than replacing it • Fertility testing and treatment research • Libido and sexual motivation — it also acts on emotional and reward areas of the brain • Restarting hormone signalling after suppression Effects are short-lived because it clears from the body quickly.
Mechanism
Stimulates GnRH neurons via KISS1R, increasing LH and FSH.
